What Is Motability & How Does It work?
The Motability scheme enables disabled people to exchange their higher rate of mobility component of disability living allowence or their war pensioners mobility supplement to obtain a new car.
What do I do first Of All?
If you don't currently have a vehicle on the Motability scheme, the first thing you need to do is to check that you qualify for a Motability contract hire vehicle. To do this you need to visit www.motability.co.uk
How do I order a car?
Once you have decided on your new vehicle, our Allams motability specialist will complete the ordering process with you. At this stage we will ask you if there are any addaptations needed.
Once the vehicle is on order we will advise you when your car will be delivered, once a delivery date has been confirmed we will finalise your insurance and loss & damage protection details.
When you collect your new car from us, we will give you a tour of the vehicle with all of its features. Next you will be asked to sign the agreement by entering a PIN number that motability would have already provided. Finally if your car has an advance payement you will need to pay us this amount in full.
Can I trade in my own car?
Most car companies, will not allow you to part exchange your personal vehicle against the Motability Scheme. However here at Allams we understand that you need to be kept mobile whilst you are waiting to collect your new vehicle, and may not have the time to worry about trying to sell your vehicle.
We will be happy to take your vehicle as a trade in. We will need to see the vehicle before it comes in. What we give you in part exchange value can either be used towards your advance payement if you have one, or you can simply have a cheque back.
I Currently have a Motability Vehicle from a different dealer?
If you currently have a vehicle on the Motability scheme, you will recieve a pack form motability appox 3 months before your car is due to go back. The pack will ask you to start to look for your replacement vehicle.
If you decide you are looking to change your vehicle with Allams, and previously used another dealership, this is no problem, as on change over day you will simply leave your old vehicle here and drive off with your new vehicle saving you time and inconvience.
Do I have to get a Contract Hire Vehicle?
95% of all Motability customers have a contract hire agreement but you can have a Hire Purchase vehicle instead.
